At the beginning of my sophomore year, unable to audition for the school’s fall show due to a community theater performance conflict, I applied for a costume crew position.

Assisting experienced technical magnet program students in sourcing and creating unique looks for the show’s fantasy characters my sewing skills caught the eye of the show’s director. With the production entering tech week, I was given the opportunity to create a battle corset for the main character “Tillius the Paladin.”

Following the production run, I presented the piece at Texas Thespians State Festival in 2021 where I received perfect scores as a mainstage national qualifier in Costume Construction.

In addition to creating the battle corset, I also assisted with pulling and dying, altering and distressing existing costume shop stock for several fantasy characters in the show.
